1. Modern Farmhouse Design style
This is a very popular style and that’s how we decorated our model home. It relates back to a simpler time with beautiful modern amenities in traditional styles like the fabulous farmhouse faucets that we installed in the gorgeous ensuite.
2. Large showers / no bathtub / shower combos
Since most people are too busy to take a bath, very often our customers will remove the tub from the bathroom so they can have a bigger shower. Also, double sinks with a spacious shower is what our customers usually prefer.
3. In-law suites or finished basements
Having an extra room or apartment in the basement is really a good idea, because you’ll never know when you may need the extra space for a family member to live in or possibly to rent out for extra income. And it’s especially great if you can include a separate basement entrance.
4. Social kitchens are still important
With any special in-home gathering, the chef does not want to be stuck in a kitchen while guests are in other rooms. That’s why a kitchen island with seating is very popular, it allows the chef to socialize with everyone while preparing food.
5. Storage space and pets
Two other very important things to think about. Walk-in closets in secondary bedrooms are always a good thing because as families grow more storage is required for all kind of items including clothing and toys.
Also, don’t forget about room for pets or furry friends and simple things like a doggie shower to keep them clean, which will make your life a lot easier.
The one overall good thing is that you don’t need a ton of space to design these elements into your new home. Our townhomes are 1,740 square feet. and feature many of these trends.
